This story starts in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Pere Romeu worked as an entertainments presenter and waiter in the cabaret Le Chat Noir. Seduced by this environment, he decided to create a similar restaurant in Barcelona. It had to be like a tavern: cheap food and piano music. Some friends backed him up financially, among other, Ramon Casas and Santiago Rusiñol.
4 Gats was founded with the clear idea of becoming a good restaurant, a reference point in Catalan culture, a place to conduct discussions and a place that would give the opportunity to exhibit the works of young artists.
For this reason, we wanted to return this activity to our restaurant for its 120th anniversary.

CONCURSO DE SKETCHING
Otra de las actividades programadas es el concurso de carteles que se llevará a cabo un domingo de otoño entre las 9: 00h a 13: 00h. Este concurso invita a los artistas de Barcelona a acercarse al restaurante y, durante una mañana, realizar dibujos de temática relacionada con 4 Gatos y el modernismo.
El concurso está abierto a todo tipo de modalidades artísticas (pictórica, aquarel- la, aceite, carbón o plumilla). El restaurante proporcionará un bloque según la modalidad elegida y los participantes deberán llevar su material.
